Michael

Michael was born and raised in Southside, Alabama and is a lifelong member of Southside Baptist Church.  Michael accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the age of eight and was baptized at SBC in 1987.  Michael is married to Amy and has twin sons, Russ and Will.

Michael is a 1996 graduate of Southside High School where he played clarinet with “The Pride of Southside” marching band, participated in both concert and symphonic bands and was a member of the Etowah Youth Symphony Orchestra.  Michael attended Jacksonville State University, graduating with a BA in Political Science in 2000.  While at JSU, he was a member of the JSU Marching Southerners, the Symphonic Band, the Wind Ensemble, the Chamber Winds, Clarinet Choir and performed in the pit orchestra for numerous productions in the musical theater program.  In addition, he was inducted into the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Music Fraternity in 1999.  In 2003, Michael graduated from Cumberland School of Law, Samford University with his J.D. and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 2004.  Michael currently works full-time as the Vice President, J.D., CFP with Trilogy Financial Group and serves SBC on bivocational basis.

Growing up at SBC, Michael was an active participant in the children’s choir, youth choir, adult choir and multiple instrumental ensembles.  In his many years of service to SBC, Michael has served as Director of the Church Orchestra and Children’s Choir. He has also served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.   Thanks to the service of many individuals in these programs, Michael came to know Christ and developed his passion for worshiping through music.  He is honored to serve the church he grew up in and believes that corporate worship is central to unifying the body of Christ and bringing together generations of believers with one purpose and Spirit.  His passion is leading people, through the power of the Holy Spirit, to glorify God in one voice, through scripturally sound worship music.
