Student Pastor

The Student Pastor (SP) is responsible to oversee the middle and high-school ministries. The SP will recruit and train leaders who will teach and lead students to know God and make Him known in our community and around the world. The SP will work to disciple students who will disciple students in the same fashion modeled in Scripture.

Qualifications
• Exhibit a passion for reaching students with the Gospel.
• Exhibit a passion to assist parents in discipling students to maturity in Christ.
• Stable, growing Christian.
• Spiritually gifted in the areas of evangelism, teaching, shepherding and administration
• Good organizational skills, able to motivate others, effective communicator.
• Seminary training is preferred but not required.
• Agree with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.

Responsibilities/Duties
• Oversee and coordinate all aspects of the student ministry.
o Sunday School
o Wednesday evening services
o Praise Team
o Fellowship events
o Outreach events
o Summer Camps or other activities
o Student missions (local, regional and/or global)

• Organize training and planning sessions for student ministry volunteers.
• Approve all student ministry programs, curricula and activities.
• Approve all expenses related to student ministries keeping within the budgeted amount.
• Work with the Office of the Pastor and the Finance Team to prepare an annual budget.
• Work with the Praise Team to plan weekly worship sets and invest in opportunities for the Praise Team to grow spiritually and musically.
• Develop and maintain safe and effective security measures. Including, but not limited to, the following:
o Entrance and exit strategy.
o Check in and check out system.
o Background checks for all volunteers (keep completed checks in a locked cabinet in a secure location)
o Approve or disapprove volunteers for service in the various ministry areas
• Investigate any complaints regarding volunteers. Discuss complaints/problems with volunteers when warranted. Document and report serious matters to the Pastor and appropriate authorities.
• Participate in the outreach ministry of the church.
• Be available to counsel and pray with students regarding spiritual matters.
• Visit with students in the local middle and high-schools.
• Support the students in their extracurricular activities in a reasonable fashion.
• Visit hospitalized members one day a week or as necessary.
• Be available to help with and/or conduct funerals and weddings.
• Participate in staff meetings and leadership training sessions.
• Submit to the Pastor annual professional and ministry goals each January.
• Other duties as directed by the Senior Pastor.

o Love Christ will all his heart, soul, strength, and mind.
o Love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her – do not neglect his ministry to his wife.
o Love his children and treat them like the gift from God they are – do not neglect his ministry to his children.

Compensation/Fringe Benefits
This is a full-time salaried position. The employer (Southside Baptist Church) will provide the following benefits:
• 100% of Health Insurance Premiums
• 100% of Dental Insurance Premiums (Staff and member and spouse only – dependants covered via health insurance plan)
• Matching contribution toward retirement through Guidestone Financial Resources of the Southern Baptist Convention up to 5% of salary
• Vacation (max of four weeks per calendar year) determined by length of service in a Southern Baptist Church or Agency.
• Sick Leave – One day per month up to 24 days
• Personal Days – Five per calendar year
• Conference/convention/ mission trips – Ten days per calendar year
